Which production companies would produce our movie?

since our movie is going to be a PG rated thriller, i have tought about some production companies that could be intersted in our movie.

Walt disney:
Walt disney is a major comapny for producing Pg rated movies( such as the haunted mansion) and all other kind of movies that would interest families, even if is mostly intersted in cartoons, I think that would be a great producer for our movie.
WB:
warner bros, another giant of hollywood, produces any kind of movie from the matrix to the looney toones movies. This company was alsoc involved in some of the most famous thriller series such as buffy and in some amazing movies such as Harry Potter.
In my opinion this company could be intersted in our production.

SPYGLASS:
often Spy glass entertainment is associated with WD or WB, Thanks to the great experience on the field of cinema and then great connections, this company could publish and promote our production.

Pietro Papadimitriou: Target audience for our movie using U.K. tribes.

searching between the U.K. tribes it was quite hard to find a tribe that would see a PG rated thriller movie, I managed to find only one that would refelct a bit our target audience, The Mainstream.

The Mainstream is the biggest part of the market, but with alternative/trendy lifestyles and music now much more accessible, the various Mainstream Tribes also lose much of their membership in later years. Those who remain tend to specialise into more aspirational subsets like Casuals, Boy Racers and Sports Junkies. Siege mentality makes the alpha males among Mainstream tribes suspicious of trendy music or clothes and quick to criticise peers who seem to be standing out. Big brand sportswear and high street fashion predominates with Mainstream tribes and music, even for Ravers, is mostly commercial.

Pietro papadimitriou audience research for film openings, what people like and what people don't.

from my brief research it was clear how there are some key elements that people like in film openings and some other key elements that people hate.

people generally like:
  • good CGI graphics (especially in comedy movies or animated movies)
  • good music ( the music must match with the kind of movie is expected to see)
  • good acting ( if there is a presentation of the protagonists during the opening, they must be able to show their personality and briefly their role)
  • Enigma codes ( for example the trailer of se7ven)

this is what people dislike:
  • really long openings
  • boring openings
  • the title at the end
  • constant credits
here is an example of a great film opening.

Pietro Papadimitriou 2 films opening full analysis

THE HAUNTED MANSION
the clip starts with the logo of Walt Disney, these makes the audience already aware that the movie is not going to be particularly frightening . The clip starts with the iconic sound of Walt Disney. The clip starts with diagetic sound of a storm, the camera does a focus pull towards the castle. There is a slow transition and then the  graphic text starts appearing. the sound now is non diagetic. the title start to appear,  the titles appear with objects moving and a particular colour wash thanks to the CGI.
there are short transitions between CGI and real filming.  Often real filming objects turn in to GCI and other way round. the music follows the events of the intro. In fact it gets more serious when the man opens the letter.
The MES is particular, thanks to the mask dressing, the castle, the pens and the hand writing that are shown the audience understands these things are happening in the past.
Towards the end the diagetic and non diagetic sound join  together.
The main shots in the clip are close ups, long shots and mid shots.
there is also graphic match when there is the change between CGI and real filming.

MISFITS (TV SERIES)
All of the intro is with non diagetic sound.
The music is hard rock, already from the music the audience can understand and “ get in the mood” of the series, which is quite violent, sexual and rude at times.
The intro starts with CGI of “graffiti” moving on walls and titles appearing as graffiti.
The lighting is quite dark and grey, which reminds of a outside area of a city.
The drawings that appear on the screen give a short brief of the story of the protagonitst.
Between The titles appearing with CGI there is the presentation of the protagonists and their name appearing.
The transition are really quick between one scene and another.
